NYJA Memberships & Benefits (All Locations)

It's finally here! In Fall 2012, participants can purchase a Yearly Membership to New York Jazz Academy, giving members an array of benefits including discounts on all classes, freebies throughout the year, concert invitations, online tips, and more. Membership will start at $199/yr. and could add up to thousands of dollars of yearly savings for our regular students. It's our way of giving back to those participants who stick with programs again and again (thank you!).

Jazz Arranging I & II (Online)

Our first sequence of online classes will be Jazz Arranging I & II, which will be accessible online to any musician in any country. Jazz Arranging I will focus on small ensemble arrangements. Jazz Arranging II will focus on big band arrangements. Participants will work with NYJA faculty via file-sharing, video-conferencing, email, and more. The arranging curriculum includes score study of classic and modern arrangements and performance readings by NYJA small ensembles and the NYJA big bands, which will record all participant arrangements.

Jazz Styles and Analysis (Online)

A variant of our popular in-person Jazz Improvisation Made Easy sequence, Jazz Styles and Analysis will be offered world-wide to online participants wishing to develop their jazz improvisation skills. Participants will work with NYJA faculty via file-sharing, video-conferencing, email, and more. The Jazz Styles and Analysis curriculum includes solo transcription and analysis, performance assignments, and ongoing evaluation of participants' solo performances, in an effort to help each participant take it to the next level as jazz soloists.

Private Lessons (Online)

Online Private Lessons are now available through video-conferencing (Skype) world-wide! Learn with experienced and inspiring NYC jazz artists from the privacy of your own home. Registering is easy. It's time to take your playing to the next level.

Saturday Morning Jazz Ensemble For Teens & Adults (Manhattan)

NYJA has expanded its weekend offerings to include a Saturday Morning Big Band in Manhattan for Teens and Adults! Jazz Jam Nights (Manhattan)

Manhattan Jazz Jam Nights will feature a pro NYJA moderator, pre-selected jam repertoire covering a range of standards and blues styles, and a steady flow of players from all over town. This is an opportunity for anyone to jam in an informal and supportive setting. The sessions will complement the work that NYJA participants achieve in other more formally structured NYJA programs.
