About Private Lessons

While our programs provide intensive and personalized instruction, every musician's development can be greatly enhanced through private lessons. Lessons are available at your home, at a music rehearsal studio, or at the teacher's private studio. Our teachers all must meet strict criteria as educators and musicians. They are also selected based on their communication skills and ability to work well with students of all ages. Lessons are 55-60 minutes. Tuition payment schedules are flexible, and you can start and end at any time. Lesson rates start at $58/hr.

How it works

Starting private lessons with NYJA is simple. First, click on a registration option at the bottom of this page. Then, register and submit payment for lessons. Once you have registered for lessons, we will contact you directly to facilitate scheduling and placement with your teacher.

In your neighborhood

If you live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, chances are there is a NYJA teacher very close to you. For the ultimate in convenience, we also offer lessons in your own home. Feel free to browse our teaching roster and teacher locations. If you live on or near Long Island, you can sign up for lessons, held at our state-of-the-art facilities in Mineola.

No more payment plans!

NYJA now offers all lessons a la carte! Unlike most other schools, we offer complete scheduling flexibility for your lesson schedule and budget. While we recommend that you take weekly lessons, if you can only take a single lesson every three months, you are free to do so.

International students
