OK, so first of all…Happy Summer!… and second of all, let me cut right to the chase: I just got asked to put together a group of musicians and music fans to take a goodwill trip to Cuba this December! I need 11 people to jump on board with me on this, and I hope you can help spread the word on this pretty amazing opportunity. Basically, we’d be spending several days in December in Havana, both attending the Havana Jazz Festival, performing on a stage in Havana, and exchanging music down there with another Havana conservatory of music.

The music of Cuba is at the heart of nearly all modern jazz, and the country, with its rich musical and cultural legacy, is one that I’ve always dreamt of experiencing firsthand. If you are interested in making the journey, or you know of someone who might be interested, let us know.

I’ve included the fine print and pertinent details as a PDF download here: NYJA-Cuba-Trip-Details-2014-1.pdf

In a nutshell, though:

December 14-21
Cost: $3,170 plus airfare from NYC to Miami
Cost includes 7 nights at a very nice hotel
Tickets to the entire Havana Jazz Fest
Several meals throughout the week
Personal Drivers
Guides and Translators
And More

Again, for complete details, please visit this page.

Time is of the essence on this, since the deadline to make a deposit and secure your place on the trip is September 1.

Let’s go!

Sincerely,
